Elon Musk made a joke on Twitter, and people took out pitchforks. It's hard to appreciate a meme when you're crying over the Bitcoin price

How do you like that, Elon Musk?

One of the main events for Russian-speaking Twitter users was Elon Musk’s phrase “haha awesome” [author’s spelling and punctuation preserved].
This is how the engineer reacted to a video of a VAZ-2106 car driving backwards - its owner changed the design of the car, moving the engine to the trunk. It is worth noting that this is not Musk’s only experience in communicating with Russian-speaking users. A couple of months after the video with the Zhiguli, one of the Twitter users asked Musk if he was going to “bring aliens to Earth” as part of his space exploration program, to which the billionaire responded with a phrase in Russian: “Where are the aliens?”

Absolute unit

In April of this year, the MIT Technology Review account published a link to an article about the largest aircraft, which was described by the phrase “absolute unit” [Russian]. "absolute unit"]. This phrase is a meme - it is used on the Internet to designate large animals that are overweight.

In response to this tweet, Musk posted a photo of a very fluffy ram, which he captioned: “I am also an absolute unit.” After this, the engineer changed his Twitter avatar to an image of this artiodactyl.

But the story didn't end there. The account of the Museum of English Country Life, which owned the photo with the viral ram, responded by putting a portrait of Elon Musk on its profile picture. The billionaire liked this humor so much that he invited the museum’s SMM manager to his work - now he answers social networks at Tesla.

Musk, Dusk and Task

Elon Musk is no stranger to memes. In a separate category you can put those funny pictures that play on his name. For example, one day an engineer posted a photo of his face against a sunset background, signing it Elon Dusk. In addition, Musk voiced himself in the new episode of “Rick and Morty” - in the universe of the animated series his name is Elon Tusk, and tusks actually grow from under his lip. In February 2022, the engineer changed his Twitter name to “Elon Tusk,” but until this episode of Rick and Morty aired, none of his followers could understand what he was talking about.

Occupy everything

In June, Musk posted a picture on Twitter with the caption “Occupy Mars,” symbolizing his plans to colonize space. True, users did not appreciate the publication and laughed at the entrepreneur, because the picture showed the Moon instead of Mars.

“This is the Moon,” said one user, attaching a photo of the Earth’s satellite from a Google search. In response, Elon Musk sent two laughing emoticons and added: “We will also occupy the moon.”

Dangerous Secrets

Elon Musk could not ignore such an event as the storming of Area 51, which took place on September 20. A group of enthusiasts gathered to storm a secret military base in the United States, where, according to rumors, experiments on aliens were carried out and other secrets were kept. Musk himself did not take part in the event, but he posted a picture with the caption “some secrets are too dangerous to reveal.” The image shows Area 51 guards running after a man who allegedly stole secret knowledge about why America doesn't use the metric system.

Three-Eyed Raven

Despite his busy schedule, Musk still has time to watch TV series. Game of Thrones ended this year, and the head of Tesla wondered why Bran didn't kill the Night King earlier, using his power to control ravens and several dragonglass daggers tied to the birds.

Person of the Year

Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian has become one of the internet's most popular characters and one of the cutest memes of the year. Apparently, Elon Musk also liked it - he published a comic with “Baby Yoda”, adding emoji with hearts to it.

Elon Musk's strange tweet was considered a prophecy about the third world war

Twitter users claim that Elon Musk published an encrypted message on his social network account, which contains a hint of the imminent start of the third world war.

On August 23, the founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX published a strange tweet containing a large quote from Barbara Tuckman’s popular Western documentary book “The Guns of August” about the preparations for the First World War. The quotation contains the entire first paragraph of the book.

So magnificent was the sight on a May morning in 1910, when nine monarchs rode together behind the funeral train of King Edward VII of England, that a roar of admiration rang through the crowd, hushed in anticipation and dressed in mourning. <…> The bells on the parliament clock tower muffledly struck nine in the morning as the cortege left the palace. But the clock of history was setting, and the sun of the old world was sinking in a fading glow of splendor that was to vanish forever.

In addition, Musk added a quote from J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” about the rings intended for people: “Nine are for mortals, whose time and destiny are verified.”

Musk's followers suspected that he had encoded in his tweet a warning about an impending war or some other global cataclysm: in their opinion, this is indicated by a quote from Tuckman's book, and even a line by Tolkien, who, as is known, fought in 1914— 1916 on the Western Front.

“Elon has something important to tell us. Just what?”

“I think he's talking about transhumanism. And... “The Guns of August” is about the First World War, “the war to end all wars.” Could he be hinting that transhumanism will be the end of all wars?

“The cycles repeat. Now we are also witnessing the decline of an era that began in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall..."

“The sun sets in the West, for the 'old world'. As I understand it, this means that two thousand years of the triumphal march of Western culture is coming to an end.”

“So China is really going to attack Taiwan?”

Other users suspect that the encrypted message is not about war, but about Musk’s machinations with his Dogecoin cryptocurrency project, which allegedly could bring down the global financial system.

"It's a sign?"

"Dogecoin against the global financial system."

Earlier, Elon Musk presented a prototype of a service humanoid robot assistant named Tesla Bot. According to him, it will be a friendly robot that will help a person perform the most boring and routine tasks.

Tweet to help: Musk continues to manipulate the price of cryptocurrencies

Elon Musk continues to influence currency and stock quotes through Twitter: this time he instantly reduced the Bitcoin rate by more than 3.4 thousand dollars, or 10%.

Elon Musk, who created the aerospace company SpaceX and the electric car manufacturer Tesla, during a discussion on Twitter about the future of Bitcoin, published just one word, which led to an instant depreciation of the cryptocurrency.

One cryptanalyst noted that Bitcoin owners will be very upset when they learn in the next quarter's earnings that Musk's Tesla company has "thrown away the rest of its Bitcoins." “Indeed,” Musk replied. This immediately led to a decrease in the Bitcoin rate by 10% to $42.7 thousand, according to CoinDesk data at about 3:44 Moscow time. This is the lowest level since February 2022.

Musk then wrote, “To clear up rumors, Tesla did not sell Bitcoin.” By 10:15 Moscow time, the fall slowed to 9%, or to 44.584 thousand dollars, and then to 7%, or to 45.071 thousand dollars.

In February, Tesla announced it had purchased $1.5 billion in Bitcoin. Moreover, the automaker announced that it will begin accepting payments in cryptocurrency for some of its products. Immediately after this, the rate of the most popular cryptocurrency increased by 13% and approached a new historical high - up to over 43.5 thousand dollars, and then above 55 thousand.

Musk is often accused of manipulating the market for cryptocurrencies and Tesla shares. You can make money both on falling rates and on growth. At the end of January, the head of Tesla posted a hashtag mentioning Bitcoin on his Twitter account, after which its rate increased by 15% in half an hour - from almost $32 thousand to $37 thousand. A little later, Musk wrote that “it was inevitable.”

One of Musk’s latest manipulations began in early May 2021: Tesla’s share price fell by 15%, and the virtual currency Dogecoin collapsed by more than 30% after Saturday, May 8, when the extravagant businessman once again made loud statements. Hours later, the price of the cryptocurrency began to rise when Musk announced that SpaceX would accept Dogecoin as payment for space travel. A few days later, Musk announced that he would stop selling Tesla electric cars for bitcoins. The price of Bitcoin immediately collapsed by 17% to $46.2 thousand.

In 2022, Elon Musk was accused of fraud due to tweets about plans to take the company public and buy Tesla shares at a price 20% above the market price. He entered into a pre-trial agreement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC): he paid a fine of $20 million and left the post of chairman of the board of directors of Tesla for three years. These tweets turned out to be just speculation.
