Current table with video card hashrate for 2022

Information about the material Published: 02/05/2021, 03:50
The beginning of 2022 was marked by another increase in interest in cryptocurrency mining, but like the previous 5 years, the main attention of miners is occupied by only two cryptocurrencies: Ethereum and Bitcoin. Ethereum is still mined by miners using video cards, and Bitcoin is still mined using ASIC miners. If everything is stable and predictable with Bitcoin mining in terms of equipment selection, because... manufacturers of ASIC SHA-256 miners have not staged revolutions for a long time, and each new generation of ASIC is slightly better than the other. The situation with mining on video cards is constantly changing, because... Over the past year, new generation AMD and Nvidia video cards have gone on sale, which can offer much greater energy efficiency than video cards released just a year ago. In addition, one can observe an increasingly strong division of miners into two castes. Those who can mine Ethereum on their equipment and those who cannot. And this “watershed” occurs at the border of 5Gb video memory, because... for mining Ethereum at the beginning of 2022, you need exactly that much video buffer.

And under this limitation, new cryptocurrency projects are appearing, the mining of which is focused on video cards with a large amount of video memory (8Gb or more), for example, Octopus, GRIN, Cortex. But there are projects that, on the contrary, are ready to compete for the attention of owners of video cards with 4Gb of video memory or less. The most striking example is the transition of Ethereum Classic from the Ethash mining algorithm to ETCHash, so that mining of this cryptocurrency would again become available on video cards with 3Gb and 4Gb video memory. This also includes the recent hard fork of the old VertCoin cryptocurrency, with the new Verthash mining algorithm.

In addition to the exclusion of all video cards with 4Gb video memory from Ethereum mining, another unpleasant surprise in 2022 was the gradual decrease in the hashrate on the Ethash algorithm of Nvidia Geforce GTX 1000 series video cards. If at the beginning of the year the top video card of this series GTX 1080Ti produced 55MH/s at the standard GPU frequency, now the same video card produces 50MH/s, but it is also necessary to raise the GPU frequency to the maximum possible values. And this trend of decreasing hashrate will continue in 2022 with the growth of the era (increase in the DAG file) of the Ethereum cryptocurrency. A similar situation occurs with video cards GTX 1080, GTX 1070, GTX 1060.

So that the owners of mining rigs on video cards do not relax and constantly keep themselves in good shape, developers of mining programs also add fuel to the fire, constantly introducing new features and optimizing the code for both old and new algorithms. One of these revelations was TeamRedMiner 0.8.0, which significantly improved the performance of AMD video cards in Ethereum mining, which, in principle, no one expected, because The ETHash mining algorithm (dagger-hashimoto) has been known since 2015 and it seemed that there would be nothing radically new here.

We are sure that 2021 in mining will be no less eventful with new models of video cards, new versions of miners and new cryptocurrencies. Therefore, we will keep you informed of all the major changes that will happen this year.

  1. *Limitation in Nvidia drivers;
  2. ** LHR (Low Hash Rate) – hardware restrictions on the hashrate of Nvidia video cards in cryptocurrency mining, partially hacked in NBminer.

What is the LHR mining limiter for Nvidia video cards.

How to increase the hashrate of Nvidia RTX 3060 12 Gb on Ethereum - instructions here.

List of miners for Nvidia video cards:

  • Ethash: Ethermine, Pheonix miner, Bminer CryptonightR: CryptoDredge, XMRIG-Nvidia, XMR Stack,
  • Zhash: Bminer, Gminer, lolminer, miniZ, Funakoshi miner,
  • Beam: Bminer, Gminer, lolminer,
  • GRIN: acegrinminer, bminer, gminer, nbminer, gringoldminer
  • ProgPOW: Progpowminer Nvidia, ethminer
  • KawPow: NBminer, Gminer, kawpowminer

The hashrate and power consumption of video cards indicated in the tables above should be understood as possible values, since they depend on a large number of factors: the miner program, the manufacturer (vendor) of the video card, the memory manufacturer, overclocking and downvolting.

How much does Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 ti bring?

The first participant is a computer with a GTX 1050 ti. The model is inexpensive: for the 4 GB version on Avito they ask from 6 thousand rubles. The low price is also explained by the considerable age of the model. The GTX 1050 along with the ti version was introduced in October 2016.

What cryptocurrencies to mine on GTX 1050 ti

Last Monday we went to the 2CryptoCalc mining profitability calculator to determine the most profitable coins. The way of working with the calculator is simple: enter the hashrate - that is, the performance of the card, indicate the appropriate algorithms and get the result.

If you don’t know the hashrate, it doesn’t matter. Soon the service will remember the performance of the most popular video cards and will enter data automatically.

The memory capacity of our GTX 1050 ti is 4 GB. This is not much compared to the current flagships, so you need to choose simpler coins.

2CryptoCalc advised me to take a closer look at ZelCash. After the recent hard fork, the cryptocurrency often finds itself in the top coins in terms of mining profitability.

Source: 2CryptoCalc

We agree - we will dig ZelCash. By the way, this is not difficult to do. Here's a short video to help. It has subtitles in Russian.

ZelCash ZEL rate

Immediately after this we fixed the ZEL rate. This is necessary in order to evaluate the final profit and know the reason for a possible deviation from the forecast profitability. If the rate falls by half, any forecast is unlikely to be relevant.

Source: CoinMarketCap

The exchange rate was 12.50 cents. At the end of the experiment it was equal to 14.05 cents. Remember.

Projected mining profit on GTX 1050 ti

By tradition, we recorded a 2CryptoCalc forecast lasting one week. The calculator promised $2.39 in income. We are talking specifically about income - the cost of electricity is different for everyone, so we will subtract it manually.

Source: 2CryptoCalc

Just in case, let us remind you: 2CryptoCalc - as well as other mining profitability calculators - does not predict the future. The service knows the current profitability indicators and shows forecast data based on them. Therefore, deviations in forecast and actual figures are not an error. This is fine.

How much does GTX 1050 ti bring?

We connected a computer with a GTX 1050 ti to the 2Miners pool and began a week-long mining run. The statistics are still publicly available. The results of the video card can be checked by following the link.

Source: 2Miners.com

The computer earned 16.57259 ZEL - the equivalent of $2.328. The 2CryptoCalc calculator worked perfectly: the final result is only 2.6 percent lower than predicted.

How much did it cost for electricity?

During an hour of operation, a computer with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 ti consumed 130 W. For a day this is 3.12 kWh, and for a week - 21.84 kWh. Today, the average tariff in Moscow and St. Petersburg is 4 rubles per kilowatt hour, so a week of operation of the system unit costs 87.36 rubles or 1.38 dollars.

The final net profit of mining ZelCash on GeForce GTX 1050 ti is $0.948 (2.328 - 1.38).

The amount is small, but the video card is inexpensive. Additionally, 94.8 cents per week turns into $49 per year. And if you have two GTX 1050 ti, then we’ll get even more than a hundred.

Why more and not 98 (48*2)? There is a small but very important trick here. Let's take a computer with a GeForce GTX 1050 ti, which consumes 130 W. Of this, the video card accounts for 80 W, the rest is consumed by the computer and components in the form of a motherboard, memory, and other things.

So, if you add a second GTX 1050 ti video card, mining performance will double, but consumption will increase by 60 percent. Hence, we will get more profit. If you use four video cards, the hashrate will increase by 4 times, and consumption by almost 3.

How to calculate mining profitability from cloud sites

The cloud mining calculator on the website bitcounter.ru will help you calculate the benefits of investing in the cloud. We select one of the cryptocurrencies and enter the value of the contract, or the size of the purchased hashrate. Additional parameters such as service fee, current rate, difficulty change are loaded automatically. Profitability may vary depending on the price of the cryptocurrency and the difficulty of mining. The main problem of mining is the constant increase in mining difficulty parameters (by about 10% monthly), which entails the need for more productive equipment. The cost of technical equipment and the special conditions required for its installation and operation make it difficult for ordinary citizens to access the cryptocurrency market.

Things to consider

By and large, mining is nothing more than a business project. And therefore, as in any other business project, there are risks here that should definitely be taken into account. Mining profitability calculators will not always be able to provide an accurate picture of what is happening, so it is also worth paying attention to many other factors. Next, we want to give a small list of simple tips that, in our opinion, can help you gain a foothold in mining at first:

  1. Current equipment. If you look at the calculator, you will notice that many video cards of older series are capable of producing almost the same hashrate as new ones. This is undoubtedly a plus, since they are not so expensive. However, practice shows that such video cards, unfortunately, are not destined to last long at the same level. Old video cards lose their potential much faster as the complexity of the cryptocurrency network increases. In addition, they usually consume significantly more electricity than new products.
  2. Yield calculators are not 100% accurate. This, in fact, is not such news, since nothing ideal exists. However, in the world of cryptocurrencies this problem is especially pronounced. Due to constant fluctuations in rates and changes in difficulty, long-term profitability forecasts can be extremely inaccurate. The most accurate forecast that a mining calculator can provide is a daily forecast. Forecasts lasting a week, and even more so a month, are rather of an introductory nature.

  3. Choose a proven and powerful pool.

The graphics card mining calculator also does not take into account the stability of the pool you are mining on and its internal commission. To get as close as possible to the figures that the profitability calculator promises you, it is advisable to use the most powerful mining pool. Otherwise, the final profitability may drop significantly in comparison with the predicted one.
  4. Try to choose efficient video cards. Not all video cards are equally good in terms of price/hashrate. The Nvidia GTX 1060 with three gigabytes of video memory was officially recognized as the best cards for mining at the end of 2022. Monitor mining calculators and stores in search of the optimal solution.
  5. One powerful one is better than many small ones. When it comes to graphics card power for mining, it is undoubtedly better to buy a few top-end graphics cards rather than a lot of entry-level cards. Even though cheaper cards will be a little better in terms of total power, over time they will lose their advantage, and top cards will remain relevant for a long time. In addition, a high-quality premium card in the future will be much easier to sell on the secondary market than several weak cards that no one needs.

Algorithms - Cryptocurrencies

How to calculate the payback period for mining a farm using ASIC miners

As in the previous case with calculating the cost for video cards, you can download a client for auto-analysis, or indicate the hashrate from ASIC in the “Hashrate” field of the calculator.

The Asikov hashrate is usually indicated by the manufacturers themselves in the documentation for the equipment. The answer is encrypted in the name, for example “Antminer Z15 420ksol/s Equihash

miner" will produce 420,000 KiloSolutions per second using the
Equihash
, and these are BTCP, ZEN, KMD, ZEC and BTG. ASICs only work with one algorithm at a time, and ASICs for SHA cannot cope with Ethash.

Profitability of mining in 2022

Last spring, the crypto market experienced a massive collapse. However, the situation has stabilized and equipment for cryptocurrency mining has become significantly more expensive. According to analysts, mining will remain profitable in 2022 at a cost of 1 bitcoin of $300,000. After all, mining 1 BTC will require as much electricity as all of Japan will consume. It is assumed that in March next year the cryptocurrency will rise only to the level of 100 thousand dollars. Trader N. Marten believes that under an optimistic scenario, BTC could even grow to $200 thousand.

Well-known expert, Christopher Chapman, assures that governments will not allow large profits in mining. They will create new laws to regulate income to reduce energy consumption. The analyst predicts that to preserve the interests of cryptocurrency holders, the Bitcoin network may switch to a proof-of-stake model. This will cause a lot of judgment, but it is necessary for the continued existence of military-technical cooperation.

Bitcoin mining will remain profitable because as transactions increase, so do the fees for moving the cryptocurrency. After mining the last block, holders will receive a reward - a profit of 0.25-3 BTS, so mining will continue to generate constant income.

It is currently possible to assemble a “home farm” of 6 video cards. The purchase of equipment will require about 330 thousand rubles. If the dynamics continue at the beginning of 2022, the farm will pay for itself in 6-8 months. Now in 30 days the profit from mining is approximately 30-45 thousand rubles. with an electricity consumption of 700 watts. This is a safe level for use in the home and apartment.

In September 2022, Bitcoin fell by 16%, it dropped to $42.8 thousand, and on the evening of the 7th, the asset was trading at $47 thousand. The main reason for the fall of BTC was the sale of a large volume of Bitcoin, which affected its rate. The decline in prices of many asset classes and stock indices is also significant. No one is safe from such ups and downs in the coming year.

On a note!

To ensure the functioning of the network, they use a system of proof of work performed, and this is too energy-consuming. Mining rewards are falling every year, calling into question the mission of Bitcoin.

Basic Concepts

Mining on video cards is the process of mining cryptocurrency using graphic processors capable of performing a huge number of calculations per unit of time.

An algorithm is a set of cryptographic functions that encrypt information in a cryptocurrency network.

Calculator is a site that calculates the profitability of mining based on user-specified data (equipment hashrate, cost of electricity, mining algorithm).

Overclocking is adjusting video card parameters to increase performance or reduce power consumption.

A mining pool is a community of users who pool the power of their equipment to find blocks faster.

A rig is a setup that includes a case, video cards, motherboard, processor, RAM, hard drive and other auxiliary components for mining.

Payback is the period during which the costs of the equipment will be fully recouped and net profit will begin to flow.

How much does AMD Radeon RX570 bring?

Let's move on to the next model - a computer with an RX570. This is also AMD, so we will mine Ethash coins.

What to mine on AMD Radeon RX570

The calculator advised not to reinvent the wheel and dig the same Ethereum Classic.

Source: 2CryptoCalc

With it we can get about 59 cents per day.

Ethereum Classic rate

The performance of Ethereum Classic is the same as in the case of RX470. $6.45 per ETC at the beginning of the experiment and $6 at the end.

Source: CoinMarketCap

Projected profit of Radeon RX570

We turned to 2CryptoCalc for help again. According to the forecast of the mining profitability calculator, a week of ETC mining will bring us $4.07.

Source: 2CryptoCalc

How much does mining on Radeon RX570 bring?

As a result, in one week, a computer with an RX570 accumulated 0.60282 ETC or $3.61, statistics - follow the link. That's nearly 12 percent below projections, almost identical to the RX470's squat. Conclusion? Jumps in mining difficulty also had an impact.

Source: 2Miners.com

By the way, there are no problems with setting up Ethereum Classic mining. If you also have an AMD card, we recommend watching this video.

Electricity costs

A computer with an AMD Radeon RX570 inside consumed 160 W per hour. For a week we get 26.88 kWh, which translates into 107.52 rubles or 1.70 dollars.

The final net profit of mining Ethereum Classic on AMD Radeon RX570 is $1.91 (3.61 - 1.70).

This is the best result in the experiment. $1.91 per day turns into $99 per year. By the way, advanced miners know how to configure video cards and reduce power consumption by 20-30 percent. The money saved turns into profit.

How much does AMD Radeon RX470 bring?

The RX470 became the first “red” - that is, from AMD - video card in our experiment. Models from this manufacturer are tailored for cryptocurrencies using the Ethash algorithm. Most often they mine Ethereum and Ethereum Classic.

What to mine on Radeon RX470

For the answer to the question, let’s turn to 2CryptoCalc again. The service recommends digging Ethereum Classic, which seems to bring 55 cents of income per day. Not bad.

Source: 2CryptoCalc

Ethereum Classic rate

On the day the experiment began, ETC was offered at $6.45.

Source: CoinMarketCap

At the end of the test, the rate was exactly $6. As a result, we have a 7% drawdown, which certainly affected the final profit.

Projected profit of Radeon RX470

If everything goes according to plan, 2CryptoCalc promised $3.81 for a week of mining Ethereum Classic on the RX470.

Source: 2CryptoCalc

How much does the RX470 bring?

If necessary, check the results of the RX470 using the link. And here they are in picture form.

Source: 2Miners

In total, the computer brought in 0.55406 ETC or $3.32, which is 13 percent below the expected profitability. Why is that?

  • To begin with, the exchange rate fell - we have already found out;
  • In addition, mining difficulty increased throughout the week.

Let's look at the last point. The mining difficulty on the day of production was 115.06 T, while on July 24 the figure increased to 123.34 T.

Source: 2Miners

In other words, there are more miners on the network, which makes mining Ethereum Classic more difficult. And since we were mining on the same video card all week, our income dropped.
