Ubiq is a platform for creating and implementing smart contracts and dApps.
It is developed on the basis of improved Ethereum code and is a fairly large global distributed ledger and “global computer”, which makes it possible to develop automated decentralized solutions for many tasks.
Key characteristics when choosing a video card
To purchase components for assembling a rig, you need to know the hashrate of video cards; the table of the best GPUs for mining should be studied by you first. The following parameters affect the performance of GPUs:
- Video memory volume . Here you should choose according to the principle “the more, the better.” Solid performance is provided by devices with storage capacity of two gigabytes or more. Ether mining on a video card with such a capacity gives the best self-sufficiency indicators.
- Memory speed . If you are wondering which video card is best for cryptocurrency mining. It is advisable to have a card with DDR 5 memory - in terms of the balance of energy consumption and computing power, they currently have no analogues on the market.
- Bus width . It is worth choosing solutions only with a 256-bit bus - 128-bit ones are several times inferior in performance to their modern counterparts. The mining speed on video cards with an old bus is several times lower, and mining itself from scratch on a video card is almost impossible.
- Cooling . Despite the fact that this item is the last on the list, it is the most important - the power of video cards for mining also depends on it. In the field of coin mining, solutions from Radeon perform best - they not only have a well-built active cooling system, but are also less susceptible to wear and tear due to long-term continuous operation.
- Overclocking capability . This is not such a significant advantage, it does not speed up mining on every card - no matter what video card you choose, it is worth studying how it behaves when mining coins. Correctly overclocking a video card can give you an additional advantage of 20-40% of the original power, but it also requires unnecessary device setup, and in this case the earnings may even be lower.
The possibility of overclocking depends on the video memory manufacturer. The best graphics accelerators for mining with Samsung memory. This parameter is not listed in the device specifications. In different batches of the same model, the memory may be from SAMSUNG, HUNIX, or another brand.
The market price of the GPU device is of great importance; the lower it is, the shorter the payback period. A top-end video accelerator may be less useful than a budget one due to its inflated cost. An example of this is the new products in the technological race from both companies. The price of the RTX 2080 and Radeon VII negated their superiority in computing speed. While they are of interest to gamers, miners prefer traditional models.
When assembling a mining rig, a configuration with 4 identical video cards is most often used. These are the most stable systems that bring the least number of problems during operation and configuration, and motherboards with 4 PCI slots are cheaper and appear on sale more often.
Coin parameters
Ubiq boasts quite decent characteristics for a newly minted Ethereum fork:
- currency capitalization currently exceeds $100 million;
- liquidity indicator per day is more than 4 million;
- the degree of popularity in search engines is at around 32%;
- activity on social networks is much lower - only 9%;
- progress towards creating a fully working version of the code is stuck at around 35%.
In this situation, based on the maximum rating of 100%, the platform received just over 40 in six months of its development. And as you know, if the level of 50% is exceeded, electronic money instantly attracts the attention of large investors.

The highest income comes from:
- RTX 2080Ti – $1.32;
- Radeon VII - $1.22.
The Radeon VII graphics processor costs approximately 30,000 rubles less than its competitor counterpart, which significantly increases its profitability. But, it is more profitable to assemble a mining farm on Rx 570/580 and GTX 1070/1080Ti video cards; they will pay off much faster.
It is better to use rigs for 4-8 video cards. In this case, you will need a specific motherboard, a more powerful power supply and a cooling system, but despite all the costs, the payback on the equipment will be higher than in farms with fewer video cards. However, the number of video cards on the farm can be increased gradually, the main thing is to initially choose the right power supply and motherboard.
Video cards P102, P104, P106 are specialized cards for mining with less memory, no video connectors, a simplified cooling system, a reduced warranty (usually 3 months) and, accordingly, a lower price than full-fledged video cards with the same chip. These cards may use settings optimized for Ethereum mining (but not necessarily), which is why such cards show a higher hashrate when mining Ethereum.
AMD also has Mining Edition RX470/570 and RX480/RX580 video cards with a shorter warranty, without video connectors and a simplified cooling system. The BIOS of such cards usually has reduced timings for memory, which is why such cards have a higher hashrate when mining Ethereum. Unlike Nvidia, with AMD cards you can change the memory timings yourself, getting the same or better results on regular gaming video cards.
Description of current video card models for 2020-2021
Which video card is better to choose for mining in 2022? We suggest paying attention to the latest developments from leading companies: AMD and NVIDIA. Gadgets created on the basis of the AMD chip, which are called Fury and Fury X, will also be relevant. NVIDIA announced the development of a new VEGA chip, and after this news, prices for Fury began to fall rapidly. And although not everyone takes them seriously, such cards are great for generating cryptocurrency. Their only disadvantage is their high level of energy consumption.
At the moment, we recommend the following video card models; this is the best choice from what is on the market today:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
The 1050 Ti is the most affordable offering in our selection. Finding this card is now quite easy and the price tag starts from 10,000 rubles.
It should be taken into account that the income from one such card will be relatively small, but if the rate of cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Zcash continues to grow, then even taking into account the cost of electricity, it may be possible to recoup the cost of the video card and earn a little money.
In general, why is there such a high demand for new 10xx series video cards from NVIDIA among those who assemble farms? The fact is that they are based on the Pascal architecture and provide up to 3 times higher performance compared to previous generation chips.
The most important thing is that they consume several times less electricity. It is not surprising that after the sharp rise in cryptocurrency rates, the demand for new video cards has become phenomenal.
Expanding horizons
The appearance of a new electronic currency, Bitcoin Cash, on the digital asset market has excited the minds of many professional traders and investors.
Ordinary users also did not stand aside, adding points to the coin’s popularity. And although it is clear that the Bitcoin fork has certain shortcomings that require correction and reconfiguration, it cannot be stopped. Any news about the site will only further fuel public attention. However, only a few top cryptocurrencies enjoy such interest. Of course, sometimes you can see publications about other electronic coins. But all of them, as a rule, are associated with another increase in the value of tokens caused by a good news background, or an unsuccessful ICO. For a coin to really fire, a number of different factors must come together:
- source code of the top cryptocurrency;
- promising stock performance;
- the presence of promising and innovative projects based on the platform.
Until then, it remains unnoticed by the general public, attracting the attention of only professional traders and analysts. However, there comes a time when the joint efforts of the project developers and the most dedicated members of its community take electronic currency to a whole new level.
The digital asset begins to rapidly grow in price, and investors who did not see the potential of the crypto platform in time reproach themselves for short-sightedness. Many people miss their chance to get rich simply because of inattention, fear of risks or a decision made too late.
But as you know, regrets about missed opportunities in the past can hardly help you see and take advantage of them in the future. Therefore, let’s look at one very promising electronic coin.
What can you mine now on video cards with low memory?
One of the options for using these cards in winter is to mine heat and receive a discount in the form of several coins of any cryptocurrency.
Due to the relatively weak computing power of these cards, the choice of potential coins for mining is not particularly large, but if you test the calculator on whattomine for RX470 and discard those coins that cannot be mined on two-three gig cards, then you are left with coins on Ethash with a small DAG size .
These include:
- ATH;
- B2G;
- DubaiCoin (DBIX);
- Ether-1 (ETHO)%
- Expanse (EXP);
- Callisto (CLO);
- FUNK;
- Metaverse (ETP);
- Moac;
- Nilu;
- P.G.C.;
- Pearl (Pirl);
- PRKL;
- Quarkchain (QKC);
- REOSC;
- SAGE;
- TSF;
- UBIQ (UBQ);
- YOC and others
The problem with most of these Ethereum clone coins is that you need to find an exchange to exchange them for something more valuable. And there are commissions, minimum withdrawals and other delights. With all this, you can fall for scammers like Poloniex and lose your hard-earned money.
If we compare the pros and cons, then a good option for 2-3 GB cards now are:
- UBIQ (UBQ) - DAG 1.27 GB;
- Quarkchain (QKC) with DAG 1.53 GB;
- PIRL (DAG - 2.43 gigabytes) is a good option for the GTX1063.
They can be easily mined on weak cards, and then exchanged for Bittrex (for UBIQ) or STEX (for PIRL). Quarkchain is generally listed on several dozen exchanges.
Why does it make sense to mine UBIQ?
UBIQ is a blockchain platform, a clone of Ethereum, with a decentralized Escher governance system and its own cryptocurrency UBQ.
UBIQ development is carried out by experienced programmers from all over the world:
The co-founder and main developer of UBIQ, Julian Yap, works at BITTREX, so the coin is supported by this fairly large exchange.
Ubiq project participants
The resource team consists of several highly qualified specialists who have proven themselves in the field of blockchain. All of their activities are conducted through the newly created company Ubiq Technologies Inc. Among the project members:
- Julian Yap. Experienced programmer and coder. Worked for a number of large companies related to the world of cryptocurrency. Has a huge track record that includes integrating platform economics, creating several key blockchain nodes, and designing system architecture.
- Chris Hansen. Chris is a person with enormous knowledge of programming languages and systems. He is responsible for attracting investment from external sources. In addition, he is directly involved in writing the source code of the system, and is also involved in making all necessary changes and improvements.
- Luke Williams. Became a member of the team in the winter of 2012. Thanks to the development of many platform tools, he gained fame as one of the most experienced and influential blockchain programmers. He is credited with the Iquidus application, various search algorithms and many other innovations.
- Alex Sterk. Joined the project in January 2015. Responsible for the company’s relations with the public, representing its interests at various conferences and events dedicated to the world of cryptocurrency.
Freelance employees are also often hired.
Features of UBIQ
The time between blocks of the UBIQ blockchain is 88 seconds.
The reward for a found block decreases by 1 coin every year and in 2022 is 5 UBQ. In 2024, the reward size will stop at one coin per block, which will make inflation from the constant emission of coins stably low:
UBQ's DAG size is now 1.27 GB and the hashrate on the RX462 in PhoenixMiner 4.9c is about 12-15 mh/s, depending on overclocking, memory chips and downvolting. The consumption of the core alone, according to data in the Phoenix miner, is about 40 watts.
The Ubiq blockchain since November 2022 uses the pow consensus algorithm with Ubqhash hashing, which is a modernized Ethash (modified Flux difficulty algorithm).
On January 14, 2022, a hard fork codenamed Andromeda will occur on block 1,075,090 in the UBIQ blockchain. Compatibility with ethereum will be ensured after the Byzantium, Constantinople and St forks. Petersburg, which will significantly improve the attractiveness of this blockchain platform.
Compatibility with improvements after the Ethereum Istanbul hard fork will be added in mid-2022.
Video cards after mining
Does Mining Kill Video Cards? What is the impact of mining on hardware? Why do video cards break and is it worth buying them after miners? What harms more: games or mining?
You will find the answer to these and many other questions in today's publication.
Let's start with theory and end with experience and practice.
In theory, pushing electrical elements across silicon causes wear on the circuit. In particular, the higher the applied voltage for a longer period of time, the faster the dielectric insulators between the conductors will fail. This eventually leads to a short circuit in the circuit.
In the image above, we see a U-shaped curve of the failure rate of the video card (blue line), which consists of the failure rate in the early stages of operation (red) and the wear-out failure rate (yellow). And the green line is random (random) breakdowns, this also happens.
As expected, time (on the x-axis) influences the number of breakdowns.
Further development of the site
In recent months, Ubiq has attended several high-profile events related to cryptocurrencies. Such steps will undoubtedly help attract the interest of truly large investors and investors. In addition, further promotion of the resource will attract the attention of various business structures to it.
It is only a matter of time before the coin rate rises. If the project team continues to invest effort in its development, as well as popularize it in every possible way, Ubiq will be able to stand on a par with such giants of the world of digital assets as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
The impact of mining on a video card
Despite theories and rumors that mining causes chip failure, cryptocurrency mining actually does not degrade graphics card performance any more than high-performance gaming.
Even consumer-grade graphics cards are designed to handle huge computing workloads and for a variety of applications beyond modern games, such as:
- Accelerated Video is the decoding of a digital video stream when watching a video.
- 3D modeling
- SETI @ Home (scientific research)
- Other goals
Cryptocurrency mining is just one of many efforts to take advantage of, so to speak, the talents of a video card.
GPUs are great at performing parallel computations, which makes them useful for solving hash functions.
The answer to the question whether mining kills a video card will not be the use of a video card for mining, but how a specific individual, that is, a miner, uses his hardware.
Namely:
- What are the temperatures,
- How often are video cards serviced (cleaning dust, replacing thermal pads),
- overclocking (read about msi afterburner)
- timings
- downvolting and more.
The English-language channel UFD Tech conducted a series of tests. They tested two video cards - one that had been used sporadically for gaming for two years, and another that had been mining 24x7 for two years in a row.
Spoiler alert: they found no difference between the two in testing. There is no difference between a two year old card in mining and in gaming.
The reason for this is quite simple and lies in misconceptions about why electronic components fail.
The thing is that the video card has both electronic and mechanical components.
Mechanical equipment has a specified shelf life that is directly related to its use.
For example, you will only get a certain amount of RPM on the fans before the physical material starts to wear out and affect performance.
It's just friction and physics.
Electronics, on the other hand, can operate for decades without problems if they have no moving parts and are not exposed to extreme conditions beyond their operating standards.
Since mining keeps graphics cards running for longer periods of time, mechanical fans wear out much faster.
Luckily, fans are one of the simplest and cheapest parts to replace easily. Watch the video: What and how often does mining break down? And what has broken with us over the past 4 years.
With proper maintenance, prolonged activity of electronic components does not adversely affect the integrity of the video card.
As long as your system properly cools these electronic components, they should remain in working order for many years. Watch the video on how to do downvolting to save your cards
how to mine ubq coin | Your finances
Greetings, fellow miners, today we will continue the topic of dagger hashimoto (ether) forks. Today we will talk about mining Ubiq coin, another quite popular currency, on which I raised some good money at one time.
Mining ubq
In order to mine ubq coin, we need the following.
1. Select ubq pool.
2. Select ubq wallet exchange
3. Download and configure ubq miner (miner).
Well, of course, let's start with the list.
Ubiq pool
Let's choose a ubiq pool. In fact, there are very few pools today. For now, we’ll choose one because it’s powerful.
ubiq.mole-pool.net:83 - High pool power, small commission of 0.5%, there is a competition where you can win 50% of the pool commission per day.
While there are few alternatives, they are not needed.
Next, we select, as expected.
Ubiq exchange
Which wallet to choose, ubiq wallet or exchange, of course the exchange is more convenient. Here I will recommend one exchange.
1. Cryptopia - A huge number of currency pairs and alt coins. Convenient.
I choose Cryptopia, it is more attractive and better for ubiq cryptocurrency. And so we begin. Register on Cryptopia, there is nothing complicated about registration. Enter your login (User name), then your email address. Then enter the password and repeat it. Then check the box that you agree with the rules, solve the captcha and press Register. We confirm your email if necessary.
Now we need to find out the ubiq online wallet, or rather its number
Click on the Bitcoin icon - these are our balances, enter UBIQ in the search, and click on deposit UBQ.
And that’s where the red arrow is, this is our ubiq online wallet.
Now the third part is setting up the ubiq mining miner.
Ubiq how to mine
The miner and its settings are the same for both nvidia cards and AMD cards. First you need to download the ubq miner - download claymore ubiq miner.
Now we unpack it to a place convenient for us, right-click on the StartUBQ.bat file and edit.
We see the contents.
The miner is already configured, you only need to install your wallet, but I won’t explain much. Where -epool and then the address of your ubiq mining pool, -ewal and then the address of your wallet that you copied above on the exchange.
We change and save. If you did everything correctly, it should look something like this.
All mining is going on. Now look at the statistics and go to ubiq.mole-pool.net:83
ubiq
enter your wallet (red arrow), do a search and:
Where Immature balance is not a confirmed balance. Pending Balance is your balance. Total Paid how much has been paid out to your wallet. Below Your Workers how many of your workers are working, if the worker is red, then something is wrong with your farm or video card. I hope I explained how to mine a UBIK cube.
Now mine and wait for the funds to arrive on the Cryptopia exchange. And then you need to remove it, how to remove it here - cryptopia conclusion.
That seems to be it, thank you all. Until new articles and pumps.
They also ask what development prospects ubq has. According to my analytics, they are good.

Criteria for choosing a video card for mining
The choice of video card for mining should be made taking into account the following parameters:
- Computing power (performance). The more, the more profitable the mining farm. The performance of a video card consists of such parameters as the amount of video memory and the core frequency of the GPU chip (graphics processing unit).
- Hashrate. This is the speed of calculations for a given mining algorithm. Denoted as MH/s (megahash per second). This parameter is closely related to computing power, but the hashrate of video cards with equal performance differs depending on the architecture and circuit design. The most common algorithm for the altcoin market is Ethash.
- Memory bandwidth. Responsible for the balance of computing power and energy consumption. For profitable mining of virtual coins, graphics cards with the GDDR5 memory standard are used; there are prerequisites for the imminent release of GDDR6.
- Overclocking potential. Initially, video cards operate in “nominal” mode, but each chip has a frequency reserve. The more modern the video card, the higher the potential. With the help of specialized software, you can free up stock and increase productivity.
- Cooling. During mining, the video card heats up (especially if it is overclocked above standard values). When overheating occurs, the frequency of the GPU chip core decreases, and at the same time, cryptocurrency mining slows down. Two or three powerful fans will prevent overheating. There are also video cards with turbine cooling, but the turbine is very noisy.
- Manufacturer. Previously, AMD was the leading developer of graphics cards for mining, but now Nvidia takes the lead, while AMD plays the role of catching up. We'll talk about video cards from these manufacturers in this review.
Note: it is profitable to use video cards only for mining altcoins (this is the name of all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin). Bitcoin mining through video cards is unprofitable, since ASIC integrated circuits are used for its mining, the performance of which is much higher.

conclusions
In this article, we looked at the best graphics cards for mining 2018 that you can use to create your farms. Despite the fact that many cryptocurrencies are moving towards PoS mining, there are still a huge number of popular cryptocurrencies that use PoW and I think this will continue for a long time.

Selecting a pool and features of its configuration
There are a huge number of pools for mining Ubiq platform tokens, however, the most intuitive and simple is ubiqpool.io. However, others should be mentioned. These include the following sites:
- ubq.poolcoin.biz;
- ubq.miners-zone.net;
- ubiq.cc/#/pool.
Now let's talk more about setting up the application. Having opened the pool control panel, look for the “help” item in the central part of the screen. During the transition, we will see the variations of mining that are offered to us. You can only configure the Claymore's Dual Ethereum miner plus Decred_Siacoin_Lbry_Pascal AMD+NVIDIA; the rest of the applications marked in the pool, unfortunately, refuse to function.
Next, you need to download the archived folder with the program from the specified link, after unpacking the archive you need to find a batch file (a batch file of the .bat type), which should be activated in Notepad. Immediately after opening it, you need to return to the pool and find there the settings for the batch file launched in notepad. Approximately it will look like this: “EthDcrMiner64.exe”, and then we will see an alphanumeric inscription.
Here you need to correct 2 values. The first is a very long code consisting of Latin letters and numbers; instead of it we put our own Bitcoin wallet. The second is the identifier of the mining equipment or, in other words, the farm, here it is written as “rig.1”, it can be changed to anything, but it is important not to use the Russian keyboard layout. We limit ourselves to the Latin alphabet.
Next, you need to run the batch file and check what it produces. If synchronization is activated and a window with miner parameters opens, then the launch was successful. Another small nuance was also noticed - sometimes the application may stop functioning due to an error that occurs with limited access. To avoid this, you need to do certain manipulations with the EthDcrMiner64.exe file:
- Open the file via RMB and click on “Properties”.
- In the window that opens, select the “Compatibility” column.
- Check the box next to “Run as administrator”.
- Click "Apply". Everything should work now.
Another nuance is a malfunction that can occur when moving the miner from the desktop to any folder; after these actions it stops working. However, if you return to the desktop, the process of mining this cryptocurrency will begin again.
