Crypto.com Coin at CoinMarketCap
Crypto.com Coin (CRO) entered the market at the beginning of 2019, but attracted attention only in recent weeks, and this is due to a significant increase in value.

We decided to figure out what (or who) caused this cryptocurrency miracle, and at the same time also conduct an educational campaign. So where did CRO come from, why is it even needed, and why is it becoming more expensive?

  • Description

    CRO is a cryptocurrency created by the Hong Kong company Crypto.com.
    That is, simply put, this is the internal token of the Crypto.com exchange. Crypto.com started in 2016 and had a successful ICO in 2022 when they launched their first MCO token, which has now been discontinued.

    For now, Crypto.com has a broader goal of accelerating the mass adoption of cryptocurrency into the world.

    They are focused on making cryptocurrency payments possible worldwide.

    Much attention is paid to the interaction between buyers and sellers. Crypto.com allows both the customer and the merchant to choose the currency they pay in and receive payment in that currency.

    The CRO token officially went live in December 2022 with an airdrop via a mobile app. The airdrop lasted 6 months.

    CRO has become more accessible to everyone after the launch of the crypto.com exchange. Since the exchange's launch in 2022, Crypto.com has amassed a number of different incentives for buying, staking and selling CRO. Incentives range from access to events to discounts on the exchange.

    On August 2, 2022, Crypto.com stopped issuing the MCO token in favor of CRO. MCO token holders were able to exchange their MCO tokens for CRO tokens at a ratio of 1:33.

    While the exchange caused some outrage among Crypto.com users, many argue that it was the right business decision to move the coin and exchange forward.

    Any functionality that was previously assigned to the MCO token has since been wrapped in the CRO token.

    Crypto.com VISA Debit Card

    The Crypto.com VISA Debit Card is perhaps the most attractive aspect of the entire Crypto.com ecosystem.

    VISA Debit Card was actually the platform on which Crypto.com first launched its ICO.

    There are five levels of cards available. The lowest tier is available to all users and offers them the fewest benefits. The highest level requires users to stake 1 million CRO tokens. The benefits of higher levels include all the benefits of lower levels and more.

    Let's sum it up

    Crypto.com developers have been actively working on the project for a long period of time. The result of the efforts of the startup’s representatives was a place in the top 10 most capitalized cryptocurrencies. To other conclusions:

    • Crypto.com is an ecosystem of products within which two cryptocurrencies operate. Each of the coins has its own purpose.
    • A variety of technical solutions and services allows Crypto.com to popularize digital assets in the fiat world.
    • Crypto.com presents a line of products that allows users of the startup not to leave its ecosystem. For example, a client of the company can make a crypto-fiat exchange, pay in a convenient format and make shopping based on the project’s developments.

    The work of the project’s creators to promote it and the availability of working tools suggests that the active growth of the Crypto.com cryptocurrency in the capitalization rating, unlike the 999 coin, is not related to the fraudulent “pump and dump” scheme.

    How will the principle of calculating the status of crypto card holders change?

    After the swap, the principle for calculating the statuses of MCO Visa cardholders will also change, according to which the cashback amount, tariffs and additional card functionality are assigned - it will be possible to get them cheaper (at least at the current rate).

    MCO Visa card statuses with cashback, tariffs and bonuses inherent in each level.
    Source. So, before the swap was announced, ruby status was given for having 50 MCO coins in the user’s staking wallet, but now you need 1000 CRO (36.17 MCO at the standard exchange rate).

    It is noteworthy that initially the number of coins for obtaining statuses, on the contrary, was increased. The same ruby status was initially supposed to be given for having 5000 CRO (180.87 MCO at the standard exchange rate), but after protests from the crypto community, the required number of coins in the wallet for all statuses was reduced by five times. Users who already have one or another status will retain it, but it is not specified for how long.

    Registration

    The exchange has two account levels - Basic and Advanced.

    Register using an affiliate link and get $25 When registering, enter the code 3eru2hf5eg

    Their advanced KYC (Know Your Customer) level requires you to provide proof of identity. This gives you the opportunity to have unlimited deposits and a withdrawal limit of 100 BTC.

    What makes Cronos unique?

    Cronos is an open-source, decentralized public blockchain platform designed to instantly transport decentralized applications (dApps) between Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks. EVM is a virtual global computer that allows different networks to communicate with each other. The testnet launched in July, and the Cronos mainnet launched on November 8th.

    The Cronos network is built on elements of the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem, namely:

    • Tendermint Core is a software implementation of the special Tendermint BFT consensus algorithm, which allows projects to develop and launch a secure blockchain in just a few weeks;
    • SDK Cosmos is a set of tools for developers that makes it easier to write code and allows you to transfer almost any blockchain to the Cosmos ecosystem;
    • Ethermint network - EVM in the Cosmos SDK module. It is compatible with all Ethereum tools (tokens, wallets, smart contracts) and EVM-compatible blockchains;
    • Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) is a protocol that allows the blockchains of the Cosmos ecosystem to interact with each other, exchange data and coins.

    We have previously talked in detail about how the Cosmos ecosystem works.

    Cronos allows users and developers to quickly and easily migrate their applications and smart contracts from EVM-compatible blockchains to the Cronos network or the Crypto.org Chain (more on that below). CRO is a native token used for all payments on the network, as well as in Crypto.org Chain and the Crypto․com ecosystem.

    Cronos’ goal is to scale the Crypto.com ecosystem, facilitating the migration of DeFi and NFT projects into it. Cronos can process more transactions per minute than Ethereum, making the process of executing smart contracts faster, cheaper and greener. The project team intends to provide every possible support to developers who will use Cronos, and hopes to soon see an explosion of activity on this network.

    To achieve consensus, Cronos uses the Proof-of-Authority (PoA) algorithm, which takes into account the “merit” and rating of validators. There is no mining on the network, the power of the equipment and the number of validator coins are not important - only their reputation matters. A fixed number of validators, pre-selected by the development team, are involved in confirming transactions.

    Despite the very recent launch of the mainnet, a full-fledged ecosystem has already begun to take shape around Cronos. Here are some projects that have already entered into partnerships with Cronos or integrated their solutions into the network:

    • 22 validators , including Bison Trails, Allnodes, Audit.one, CRO Nest, Crypto.bzh, Stakespace, Staking.Cafe, SwissCro, X Staking;
    • Decentralized Oracles: Chainlink, Band Protocol and Blink Oracle are integrated into the Cronos network;
    • Cross-chain bridges: Nerve, cBridge and AnySwap allow you to move tokens of different standards between blockchains;
    • Wallets: Metamask, Сrypto․com DeFi Wallet, Nabox, Trust Wallet
    • DeFi: VVS Finance, Tectonic, CRODEX, CronaSwap, PhotonSwap, Annex Finance, Swapp Protocol;
    • NFTs and gaming: Duelist King, Gem Studio, Cronos Chimp Club, Crocos NFT.

    To further support the Cronos ecosystem, blockchain accelerator project partner Particle B has launched a grant program of $100 million: 100 projects launched in Cronos will receive $1 million. From September 24 to November 24, the first Cronos hackathon (developer competition) is being held with a shared prize fund at $500,000.

    The Cronos team has already announced its immediate plans for the development of the project. These include merging the assets of the Cosmos network with Cronos through IBC, launching new bridges between blockchains, and expanding the functionality of the network.
