Trust Wallet: review of a cryptocurrency wallet from the Binance exchange

Official website: trustwallet.com

Trust Wallet is a digital asset storage wallet designed for transferring, buying and selling tokens from the Ethereum (ETH, ERC-20, ERC-223), Binance Chain (BEP-2) and Binance Smart Chain (BEP-20) networks.

Trust Wallet is popular and has over 10 million users. A distinctive feature is convenience, ease of use and a wide range of useful tools for working from a smartphone. You can download it on the official website, or in the App Store or Google Play.

Trust Wallet was created in 2022 by Viktor Radchenko. It is officially registered in San Francisco. This is a multi-currency wallet that supports various cryptocurrencies. You can store almost all top coins on it, make purchases and sales, exchange and earn extra money through staking. This is one of the first decentralized applications.

Anonymity and security

Trust Wallet, like most crypto wallets, is completely anonymous. No verification process is required, no other personal data (contact phone number, email address) is provided.

It is almost impossible to hack Trust Wallet. Reliability is ensured by good protection of private keys. Only users have access to them. Keys are generated based on the recovery phrase. This is the only way to access your account.

All transactions are also protected by a private key. Each translation is signed by him, but is not disclosed to third parties (including developers). Cryptocurrencies of different types are provided with their own private keys, which are also generated using the Seed phrase.

The main thing is not to end up on a phishing site. The best solution is to use a mobile application. Two-factor authentication is used as additional protection; the application can be configured for access via Face ID or Touch ID.

Wallet creation and sections

To start using Trust Wallet, you need:

  1. Download the corresponding application from the Play Market or App Store and click “Create a new wallet.” installing a wallet

The safety of the phrase must be treated with special attention. Do not give it to strangers under any circumstances, as this will allow them to gain access to the funds. TrustWallet employees never, under any pretext, request a seed phrase from the user.

After confirming the secret phrase, you can start using the wallet. The sections it includes are: tokens, finance and collections.

The “Tokens” tab contains a list of the main cryptocurrencies, available amounts and exchange rate information.

What does Trust Wallet have to do with Binance?

In July 2022, Binance acquired this wallet. From that moment on, active development began, namely support for more than 40 blockchains and the emergence of new tools. Previously, only BEP2, BEP20, ERC20 network tokens could be stored here.

At the same time, the founder Viktor Radchenko did not abandon his brainchild and continued to work. This is more of a collaboration than a buyout of the company. Together with Binance, Trust has become one of the most popular services offering a wide range of services.

Installation on computer and smartphone

You can install the program on your PC only on Apple. For operating systems such as Linux and Windows, versions have not yet been launched. Initially, the application was developed exclusively for mobile devices.

Download Trust Wallet to your smartphone (tablet). Next, you need to create a new account. We study the conditions and accept them. You will be given 12 words in English. It is recommended to save them on different media, including paper. These phrases must be protected from prying eyes.

Let's start verifying the passphrase. To do this, enter the previously proposed set of words and a password will be created. Now you can fully use it. By default, only three cryptocurrencies will be displayed: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin.

The remaining crypto assets are added manually by clicking on the plus sign in the upper right corner of the page.

How to find out the Trust Wallet address

To transfer assets to your wallet, you will need an address depending on the coin. Each cryptocurrency will have its own unique address. For example, if you want to receive Bitcoin, then on the “Tokens” page, click on Bitcoin and then click the “Receive” button. The address and QR code will be displayed, which can be copied (sent via instant messengers) or scanned. This way you can find out the address of other tokens.

It is important to understand that for some tokens it is not enough just to know its address. For example, the USDT stablecoin is divided into different types:

  • ERC20;
  • TRC20;
  • BEP20.

Therefore, when transferring, we pay attention to the above networks and carry out the transaction. If you send assets from one network to another, they will simply disappear.

What is Seed - phrase

In another way, it is also called the original phrase. It is a sequential set of words from a certain number. Trust provides 12 words. With this set you can easily access your wallet. Therefore, it is important to store the original phrase in a safe and inaccessible place from other eyes.

Some wallets are protected by private keys. This is a set of numbers and letters. Private Key gives access only to a specific address of a crypto asset. While Seed gives complete control over the entire wallet. In other words, the initial phrase includes the entire set of private keys.

What is Trustee Wallet?

Trustee Wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet that combines storage and exchange. The multi-currency client was developed by the Ukrainian company BlockSoftLab, which already has a certain reputation in the fintech field and has previously presented many projects based on Ethereum smart contracts.

The creators of the wallet set themselves a simple and clear goal - to create a convenient storage for cryptocurrencies that will make it easier to work with digital assets even for those users who are far from the world of blockchain technologies. The idea was fully realized, and in 2022 the world saw a new multi-currency storage facility called Trustee Wallet.

Go to the wallet website

The key feature of the wallet is not only that it allows you to operate several cryptocurrencies at once in one place, but has the most simplified functionality. It also allows you to buy and sell crypto in a matter of seconds for money from a card or using electronic cash.

At the same time, the money is not stored on the company’s servers and is not transferred anywhere - encryption occurs on the client side, and no one except you has access to your money.

Although the wallet is relatively young and is just beginning to conquer the market, it has already gained the favor of customers and is successfully moving on the market.

How to top up Trust Wallet

To top up your account with cryptocurrency, for example, from an exchange or another wallet, you just need to copy the address and send coins to it. But there are some nuances and they depend on the cryptocurrency.

For example, in order to top up your account with the USDT stablecoin, you must look at what network it works on. There are several varieties of ERC-20, TRC-20, BEP-2. Therefore, first we look at which network the coin belongs to. If you have USDT on the ERC-20 network on your exchange, then copy the address marked ERC-20 into Trust. Otherwise, you may lose your assets.

There is no commission for replenishment. It is only taken by the network to process the transaction. To find the address of a particular asset, you need to click on the top up button (indicated by a down arrow and the corresponding inscription). Select the coin you are interested in or find it through the search bar and click on it. The public address will be displayed in the window that opens.

The time it takes for funds to be credited will depend on network congestion. When transferring crypto from the Binance exchange, you can save on fees by using the Binance Smart Chain network. But first you need to create an address on your BSC wallet:

  • go to the list of tokens;
  • select “Add token” and Binance Smart Chain;
  • We enter the contract address, token name and Declaims.

How to top up your account with a bank card

If you don’t have cryptocurrency yet, you can purchase it directly from Trust Wallet. The procedure is as follows.

  1. Open the application.
  2. Select the coin you are interested in.
  3. In the window that opens, click on the “Buy” button.
  4. Enter the amount in fiat (USD) and click “Continue”.

Next, the system will ask you for personal information and require you to confirm your identity. To do this, you will need to upload a photo of the relevant document (passport or driver's license) and take a selfie.

You can then complete the transaction by entering your payment details. Please note that the card owner is the same person for whom the account is verified. After processing by the network, tokens will appear on your account. It can take some time. It is worth considering that purchasing this way will be slightly more expensive than on the exchange. Minimum transaction amount is $50.

You can purchase cryptocurrency through exchange services. The most reliable and popular is Bestchange. You can buy in various ways. In the “Give” section, indicate the currency you want to spend, and in the “Receive” section, which one you want to purchase. Then we select an exchanger, read the terms and conditions and make a transaction. We indicate the Trust Wallet address and upon completion of the purchase, the coins will be transferred to the account.

Buy on P2P Binance and transfer

Binance has added the ability to buy and sell coins via P2P (here is the link). This is a guarantor service that allows users to exchange assets (in our case, you are cryptocurrency and you are money) under the patronage of the exchange. You can buy tokens from another person in various ways: by transfer to bank cards, payment systems, or from an account to a Binance account. Now this is the most profitable way to deposit/withdraw money from cryptocurrency.

The purchased funds will appear on the exchange wallet in the “P2P” section. From there you need to transfer it to spot and then to any third-party wallet, including Trust Wallet. To do this, the recipient's address is copied and the required amount of cryptocurrency is sent. The procedure is explained in more detail in the video.

How to transfer from Binance to Trust Wallet

It is most profitable to purchase tokens on the exchange. You will pay a small commission for replenishing your account in rubles:

  • from a bank card 250 rubles;
  • via AdvCash 0%;
  • Payeer 0%.

You will have to pay 0.3% for a trading operation and a small commission for withdrawing tokens, depending on the digital asset. The procedure for withdrawing cryptocurrency to your wallet:

  • go to Trust Wallet and copy the address of the coin you plan to create;
  • On Binance, go to the “Wallet” section and click “Withdraw”;
  • select the desired coin;
  • In the appropriate field, insert the replenishment address, enter the quantity of the shipment and click “Withdraw.”

We confirm the operation by entering two-factor security: code from email or phone, Google Authenticator. In this case, a commission will be charged, but it can be reduced using the BSC network (described above).

The speed of the transaction will depend on the cryptocurrency. For example, transactions with Bitcoin may take several hours, but with XRP or BNB the transfer will arrive instantly. This depends on the blockchain on which the digital currency operates.

TWT token, its use and token economy

The wallet has its own Trust Wallet Token (TWT). Designed to stimulate users. Expressed in discounts when purchasing digital assets, voting and the opportunity to use decentralized exchange services. Also used as a speculative instrument.

The current TWT rate for today, a retrospective on various timeframes and a forecast can be viewed on the interactive chart below.

TWTBUSD chart from TradingView

Initially, the cryptocurrency worked on the BEP2 standard. In the fall of 2020, I switched to BEP20 of the Binance Smart Chain network. The network change resulted in the destruction of 99% of the coins. The new maximum was determined in the region of one billion tokens.

The main advantages of TWT are low commissions and instant transfers. You can send coins to any wallet or cryptocurrency exchange that supports the Binance Smart Chain network. Today, all top crypto exchanges have the above network.

Trust Wallet Token is based on the Proof of Stake algorithm, which increases reliability and security against threats such as 51% attack. This is currently one of the main dangers of the cryptocurrency industry.

Collections

Collectible digital assets (most often ERC721 and ERC1155 tokens) are usually either highly limited in quantity or unique. These are a kind of valuables in digital form, like in real life - paintings by famous artists or collectible figurines.

collections

Crypto assets of this kind usually represent real objects, from works of art to pets. There are restrictions on the number of tokens generated. Trust Wallet provides an easy way to safely store such assets. Tokens are associated with a public address and are protected by blockchain means. Some examples of objects have become quite popular in recent years - CryptoKitties, Decentraland, CryptoPunks, etc.

Staking in Trust Wallet – how and how much you can earn

The trust at the time of writing supports several coins for staking:

  • Binance Coin (BNB);
  • Tron (TRX);
  • Cosmos (ATOM);
  • Tezos (XTZ);
  • Algorand (ALGO);
  • Kava (KAVA).

Let's look at TRX as an example. To do this, you need to buy coins or transfer them from an exchange or another wallet. Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Go to the “Finance” section.
  2. Select Tron.
  3. Click on the “More” tab.
  4. In the window that appears, click on “Stake”.
  5. Select a validator.
  6. Specify the number of coins and click “Next”.
  7. Click “Send”.

As soon as the transaction is confirmed, the tokens will be used. Profitability will depend on the work of the validator and the selected asset. On the official website of the wallet in the “Staking” section you can use a special calculator.

For example, when investing 100 Cake coins (Pancakeswap DApp), 0.4514 coins will be credited per day. Monthly earnings will be 10.8333 Cake, and annual earnings will be 130 coins. In other words, the monthly profit is just over 10%. In BNB – 30% per annum, Cosmos – 7.55%, Tezos – 6.1%, Bitcoin (Venus DApp) – 6%, Ethereum – 5%, Tron – 0.74%.

The main advantage of this type of income is safety. You do not give your funds to anyone. They also continue to be on the wallet and also bring profit.

Cashing out cryptocurrency today is not a problem and this can be done in various ways: to another wallet, through P2P, exchange services.

Withdrawal to another wallet

On the main page of the application, click on the icon in the form of a shield. Next, select a currency from the proposed list or through a search engine and click on it. Then click on “Submit”. Enter the final address in the appropriate field, or scan the QR code.

We enter the number of coins (by pressing max you can enter the entire available balance). Then click “Next” and get to the data page. We check everything and confirm the operation. The funds will be sent to the recipient after the transaction is processed.

The transfer commission is regulated manually. In the upper right corner, click on the gear icon and set the desired unit. You can get acquainted with the options by entering a phrase through a search engine, for example, “Bitcoin average transaction fee.”

To view transaction history, click on the coin of interest and all information (receipts, departures, stage of operation) will be displayed.

Withdrawing money to a Sberbank card

A direct transfer of fiat from Trust Wallet to a Sberbank bank card, like any other financial institution, is impossible. To do this, you will have to use P2P or exchange services.

Via P2P

You can cash out cryptocurrency via P2P on the Binance exchange. The method is convenient because it provides a wide range of payment systems, including withdrawal to a Sberbank card. First, you need to transfer your cryptocurrency to the exchange. It will appear on the spot wallet.

Then it needs to be transferred to P2P. Go to the spot wallet and click “Transfer”. In the “On” section, select a P2P wallet. Next, indicate the desired coin, indicate the quantity and click “Confirm transfer.” In the settings, add a payment method convenient for you and after that you can start the transaction.

On the main page of Binance, open “P2P”. Select the currency of interest, for example, the ruble. Then click on the coin you want to exchange. The list below will list the counterparties, i.e. people who want to buy cryptocurrency.

Go to the appropriate offer. If everything suits you, then enter the number of coins. Choose a payment method (where you want to receive rubles) and open a transaction. As soon as the money arrives on the card, you confirm the payment.

Through exchange services

Let's consider withdrawing money through the Bestchange exchanger. This is a site that collects the most profitable and reliable exchange services. We go to the website and in the “Give” section, select the asset that we want to exchange. In the right column “Receive”, click on the desired currency.

Exchangers will be displayed in a list on the right side of the screen. The top one with the most favorable exchange rate. Pay attention to the limits, reviews and if everything suits, go to the site.

Here it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the terms of the transaction. Next, write down the number of coins that you will exchange, as well as the details for receiving payment and open a transaction.

On the next page you will be provided with the details i.e. address where tokens should be transferred. Copy it and open Trust Wallet. Find the required asset and click “Submit”. Paste the copied address, enter the number of coins and click “Next”. We check all the data and confirm the operation.

We return to the exchanger’s website and click “I paid.” Once the transaction is processed by the network, the buyer will transfer the money to the specified account. It is important to consider that the exchange service charges a commission for this operation. But unlike the exchange, you do not need to register here and go through the verification procedure.

Exchange (Swap) in Trust Valet

The Swap option is a simplified way to buy and sell tokens that is fully integrated into Trust Wallet. You can perform ETH swaps through Kuber Network 25, as well as BNB swaps through Binance DEX - this applies not only to BNB and ETH, but also to other tokens located on the same blockchains.

To make an exchange (Swap):

  1. Open the Trust Valet wallet, click on the button with two arrows (DEX) at the bottom of the screen. Then select the “Exchange” tab.
  2. Select the token you want to give, then the one you want to receive.
  3. Specify the amount to exchange. It is automatically converted at the rate so that you can immediately see how much you will receive in the end. Whatever amount you enter, it will always be a multiple of 10.
  4. Click on the next button and complete the exchange operation.

Please note that confirmation of exchange depends on the type of token. ETH swaps require a certain amount of waiting time for miners to confirm the transaction, but BNB swaps are instantaneous.

Transfer fees and what is a network fee

Trust Wallet does not charge any fees for withdrawing digital currency. Users just pay a network fee. This is a commission to miners for maintaining the network and processing transactions. It differs depending on the cryptocurrency used.

For example, Ethereum has seen the highest network fees recently. Such problems arise when the network is under load. Ethereum's commission is called gas. There is a standard payment for a transaction, and there is a priority one. To ensure the transfer is processed faster, users use the second method. But it is much more expensive.

How to connect Trust Wallet to various services

Let's look at the example of connecting DApps. Initially, you need to set up your wallet for BSC.

The application version must be the latest. Let's start setting up:

  1. You need to transfer BEP20 coins to your Trust. You can use the Binance exchange. In your wallet, select Smart Chain and click “Receive”.
  2. Copy the address.
  3. We transfer tokens supporting the BEP20 network from the exchange. It could be XRP, BNB.

The wallet for Smart Chain is configured. Now let's learn how to use decentralized applications:

  1. At the bottom of the wallet toolbar, click on the icon with four squares. This is a DApp browser.
  2. Next, we go to the existing decentralized applications and use them.

For owners of smartphones based on IOS, you will have to install a DApp browser. On Android it comes by default. This is a Web3 browser that allows you to interact with any decentralized applications.

Settings

Trust Wallet wallet settings include the following items and subsections :

  • Wallets. List of wallets connected to the account.
  • Activating the dark interface theme.
  • To invite a friend. For each invited friend they give 100 TWT tokens; in addition, between users who have more than 500 TWT on their account, a reward in the same tokens is distributed every month (inactive accounts do not participate in the distribution).
  • Safety. In this section you can activate the access code and automatic address change (for Bitcoin and its forks).
  • Push notifications.
  • General settings. This changes the underlying fiat currency in which cryptocurrency rates will be displayed, and also enables and disables the dApp browser used to view decentralized applications. Here you can clear its cache at any time.
  • WalletConnect. It is an open protocol for connecting DApps to mobile wallets using end-to-end encryption. To do this you need to scan the QR code. This way it’s easy to link other wallets to TrustWallet.

How to restore your wallet

If you have lost your smartphone or deleted the application, then there is only one way to enter your wallet, using a seed phrase. Procedure:

  1. Install the Trust Wallet application and launch it.
  2. Select “I already have a wallet.” If you select “Create a new one” and then try to restore the old one, it will only be available for viewing (you won’t be able to make transactions).
  3. Next, click “Multi-coin”.
  4. In the page that opens, enter the phrases in order, separated by one space, and click “Import.”

Access to your wallet has now been restored and you can use it. Without the original phrase, restoring Trust Wallet is not possible.

How to add tokens

Previously, the wallet only supported major coins such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, but did not support XRP, USDT. Later these and other coins were added (more than 160 thousand). On the main page of the application, by default, only four assets are displayed: BTC, ETH, BNB, Smart Chain.

To display other assets you are interested in, click on the icon in the upper right corner. In the search line, enter the desired coin and move the slider to the right.

Some lesser-known assets may not be available in Trust Wallet. But they can be added manually. First, you need to find out the token network (ERC20, BEP20) in order to get the contract address. The ERC20 network token must be searched in etherscan, and the BEP20 in BscSkan. We find the contract and copy it.

On the Trust wallet, open the add page. In the search bar, enter the name of the token and if it is missing, then click “Add token”. We enter only the contract address. The token details (name, symbol, decimals) will be displayed automatically. Click “Save” and the token will appear in your wallet.

Trading on the built-in DEX

For token trading, Trust Wallet connects directly to the Binance DEX to allow users to trade. Outwardly, everything looks like a traditional crypto exchange with an order book where you can create your own buy and sell orders. It should be remembered that trading on the exchange requires a network commission, since money is transferred directly from wallet to wallet.

How to create a buy/sell order:

  1. Open Trust Wallet and click on the button with two arrows (DEX) in the bottom menu of the application. Then select the “Exchange” tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Select a trading pair in the upper left corner. If you enter the name of a token but can't find it, it may not have been added to the DEX yet.
  3. Specify the price of the token and the amount to purchase. You can also select the price automatically by clicking on any order from the order book. On the next screen, you need to confirm the transaction, and the token will automatically go to your wallet.
  4. Creating a sell order is similar to the previous procedure, only it is performed not in the “Buy” tab, but in the “Sell” tab.

Comparison with competitors

Once upon a time, MetaMask, MyEterWallet, and Coins could be considered the main competitors, but today Trust Wallet has significantly surpassed them in many parameters:

  1. By number of users.
  2. Binance DEX and Kyber Network protocols allowing instant transactions.
  3. Safety. Even the developers don't have your login information.
  4. Built-in web browser for using DApps.
  5. Full support for tokens of various networks.
  6. The user controls his own private keys.
  7. Possibility of buying and selling cryptocurrency through a wallet.

Separately, it is worth noting the cooperation with the largest eco-system Binance. This significantly added credibility, functionality, and the availability of financial instruments. At the same time maintaining simplicity and ease of use.

Reviews and discussions

Benefits of a crypto wallet

Over 5,000,000 users have downloaded the application from the Google Play store and most of them are satisfied with Trust wallet. Reviews of the service indicate that it lives up to its name. Translated from English, the word trust means to trust. The average rating of this wallet is 4.6 on a five-point scale, which indicates the normal operation of the application. Let's look at its strengths and weaknesses.

  • Easy to use.
  • Users' private keys are stored on their own devices.
  • A backup tool is provided to quickly restore access
  • Anonymity - you can use it without providing personal data
  • Reliability.
  • Support for a large number of coins and tokens.
  • Built-in exchange (Binance DEX).
  • DApps Browser - allows you to interact with decentralized applications through the Web3 browser
  • Possibility of purchasing digital coins for fiat using a bank card.
  • Multilingual interface.
  • Trust Wallet staking.

To find the disadvantages in the operation of the application, you need to really find fault, since in general there are only advantages, both in terms of functionality and ease of storage and conducting anonymous transactions. However, there are also disadvantages, for example, the wallet is not very secure, since there is no 2f authorization, but the code + fingerprint slightly improves the situation when entering the application.
