One of the important elements necessary to ensure stable operation of mining farms is the use of a reliable, fast and easy-to-manage operating system.
Hive OS , a Linux operating system based on the Ubuntu distribution, optimized for cryptocurrency mining, is well-deservedly popular among miners Linux miner hive OS is both a set of programs and a service for monitoring your rigs. This review describes what Hive OS is, how to install, configure and use it for mining.
The long-awaited release of Hive OS 2.0 has been released with a new system interface. Everything has changed, not just visually, but the functional part has also undergone major changes. Many useful features have been added to simplify the work of ordinary users with the system.

There are quite a lot of algorithms on the basis of which cryptocurrencies work to get confused right away. And the name of the algorithms is more incomprehensible to many than the currencies themselves, because developers advertise and develop a specific currency, not algorithms. Therefore, I will provide the current list of currencies in order of decreasing profitability from the most profitable at the time of writing.
- Ethereum mining - founded in 2015, Ethash algorithm (previously called Dagger-Hashimoto). Ideal for AMD 290/290X/390/390X/470/480, as well as NVidia 1060/1070/1080. Demanding on the frequency and volume of video memory and its timings. The video cards do not heat up well. Allows you to run parallel mining of Ethereum using the Ethash algorithm and an additional algorithm (Decred, Siacoin, Lbry, Pascal) with low intensity. The minimum requirements for video cards are 2GB of video memory.
- Monero mining - founded in 2014, CryptoNight algorithm. Ideally suited for any AMD video cards starting from the HD5000 series. The algorithm is demanding on the video memory frequency, so it makes sense to overclock it specifically for it. Nvidia can also mine using this algorithm, but less efficiently. The minimum requirements for AMD are driver 13.12. The video cards do not heat up well.
- Mining Z-Cash - year of foundation 2016, Equihash algorithm. Ideally suited for all AMD video cards, preferably series starting from R9 270 (HD7850), as well as NVidia video cards starting from GTX700 series. Demanding on the video memory frequency, a little on the GPU chip frequency. It heats up video cards very poorly.
- Mining LBRY - founded in 2016. Best suited for NVidia video cards. The video cards do not heat up well.
- Mining SiaCoin - year of foundation 2016, Blake2b algorithm. Approximately equally suitable for the latest video cards from AMD and NVidia. The video cards do not heat up well.
- Mining X11/X13/X15… - many algorithms and currencies formed since 2014. But ASICs have long been made for these algorithms, so mining these coins on video cards has become unprofitable. Mining on AMD video cards was much more profitable, but in the latest series NVidia was able to catch up and even overtake AMD in computing speed. It noticeably heats up the video cards.
- Mining LiteCoin is the first currency based on the Scrypt algorithm, which was the first alternative to the SHA-256 algorithm, on which the very first and most popular currency BitCoin still works. Read about Bitcoin mining here. Year of foundation: 2011. Initially, it was said that this was the first algorithm with protection against ASICs. But ASICs still made it for it and quickly enough, so mining the scrypt algorithm on video cards has become unprofitable since 2014. AMD video cards were significantly more profitable than NVidia. It heats up video cards extremely.
The essence of programs for bitcoin earnings
Programs for earning bitcoins are designed to automatically receive cryptocurrency. The programs work online; to use them you need to install the program on your PC or register on the website. It is necessary to periodically check the account and withdraw money. Many bots continue to work when the PC is turned off around the clock. The type of activity of bots depends on their purpose: some programs solve captchas, others change cryptocurrency through exchanges, others make profit from games or mining.
Basic strategies for generating cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrency generator is a program for its automatic extraction. The main ways to obtain cryptocurrency automatically are mining and the use of robot programs.
- Mining. The power of their own computers or special equipment is used, and users join into pools to mine cryptocurrency. You can rent out your equipment or rent mining devices.
- Bot programs for cryptocurrency faucets or trading platforms. With collection programs you can earn the equivalent of $200 per month.
Requirements for software and technical parts
The capacity of ordinary home computers for mining Bitcoins is not enough. ASIC systems are used. They are capable of generating 2.5 gigahashes per second with an electricity consumption of 2.5 W, a regular Radeon HD 7990 graphics card generates up to 1.2 gigahashes, while consuming 10 times more energy. The downside is the high cost of the equipment - up to $10,000.
No special equipment is required to use online programs. The user registers on the bot’s website and can mine cryptocurrency via a tablet or phone. For bots that require installation on a PC, devices running on Windows, Mac, and Android OS are suitable.
MultiMiner
MultiMiner is a BFGMiner for beginners. The program is adapted for non-technically savvy users.
- + Intuitive graphical interface.
- + Different mining strategies.
- + Ability to manage multiple devices.
MultiMiner is essentially a GUI for BFGMiner. It itself has a number of powerful and important functions, but it is kinder to novice “miners” and amateurs.
When first installed, MultiMiner will guide you through the process of entering pool information, giving helpful hints, and explaining unfamiliar terms.
After installation is complete, the program will automatically scan all devices that can be used for mining and list them in a table. The pool name and average hash power will be indicated there. Most importantly, the client will show you the projected average daily profit that can be achieved on your current mining hardware.
If you wish, you can use the Pools tab to connect to multiple pools. The “Strategies” item allows you to sort different pools, for example, highlight those that are the most profitable. Or choose those that generate coins with the least computational complexity.
During the installation of the program, the developers will be asked to send 1% of the profits to their wallet as a thank you for creating this amazing client. This is voluntary. This option can be enabled or disabled in a special section.
MultiMiner is a cross-platform application, but for macOS and Linux systems you will need to install additional software.

Generator bots
Bots are designed to work on cryptocurrency faucets, participate in trading, and play games. There are several current bot programs:
- Bitcoin generator. Daily payments are 250,000 satoshi. This is a bot in English. To use it, you need to register on the website https://bitcoingenerator.com.ru/. The Bitcoin wallet is registered in the system. You can earn up to 1 Bitcoin for free. However, the program charges a large commission for withdrawals.
- MoonBitcoin. This program works online. You should visit the site more often, otherwise profits begin to fall. To use the program, you need to register on the website https://moonbit.co.in/. The withdrawal reaches 51 satoshi in 5 minutes. Withdrawals are made at any convenient time.
- The software can generate between 0.2 and 0.5 Bitcoins per day. The generator can be downloaded at https://www.btc4gen.com/.
Speaking about bots, we wanted to talk about several interesting new products. For example, about bots that generate portraits of people. Such technologies are developing at a tremendous pace and have already achieved results that are almost indistinguishable from real photos.

How to avoid getting malware?
To protect your computer from unauthorized use and malicious programs, you should only download programs from trusted sites. Avoid visiting dubious sites and following suspicious links. Avoid opening email attachments from strangers. You cannot download files using links from forums that are praised by several users at once. There is a risk that such a program is a virus. You should install a high-quality antivirus and periodically scan your computer with it. Download tools to detect spyware. On Windows, go to the “Control Panel” folder on your PC, then select “System and Security” and turn on the firewall.
Passwords and important information should not be stored on the computer from which bitcoins are mined. Especially for cryptocurrency faucets, you can install the VirtualBox virtual service. If the resource provides two-phase authorization, it must be installed.
Mining TONcoin - Real profitability and withdrawal - HiveOS + Windows from A to Z
There is a response when overclocking the core!
The simple feature of this miner is that it shows the hashrate in stages. If you set +100-150 for 3080, then the value of 4500 will jump more often and the average hashrate will ultimately be higher! To mine TonCoin:
- Download and unpack the miner:
- Enter the wallet address from TON.
- Run run.bat.
Windows:
danila-miner.exe run https://server1.whalestonpool.com<your_wallet>
Linux and MacOS:
./danila-miner run https://server1.whalestonpool.com<your_wallet>
Instead you should insert your wallet address as in the example above.
Example settings:
Settings
Pool address | server1.whalestonpool.com |
your_wallet | Your wallet address |
danila-miner.exe | name of the application to be launched |
How much can you earn?
Earnings from cryptocurrency faucets using programs can reach $200 per month. Such earnings are possible taking into account the fact that several taps will be connected. Earnings from mining are much higher, but investments are also higher. You need to pay for equipment rental and software use. On average, a pool of users finds a hash once every 2-3 months; for finding a hash, users receive 25 bitcoins. Earnings are divided among all pool participants. Also, every day users receive small amounts - a commission from transactions.

v5.8
- Added support for the latest AMD drivers for Windows (21.10.2, 21.10.1, 21.9.2 and 21.9.1). Please note that any AMD cards older than Polaris (RX 470/480/570/580/590) will not work with the latest AMD drivers.
- Added support for the latest AMD Linux 21.30 drivers
- The latest AMD drivers (21.9.1 and later for Windows and 21.30 and later for Linux) have dropped support for older kernels, so we have modified the kernels for AMD Polaris cards to support these new drivers. There is a very slight improvement in speed (less than 0.1% on average) with new cores and new drivers on Polaris cards.
- Other fixes and minor improvements
v5.7b
- New “turbo” kernels have been implemented for AMD Polaris cards (-clkernel 3), which can work with current DAG sizes of more than 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses twice the video memory and provides slightly higher hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command line option to specify how much video RAM to leave unused
- Increased maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until approximately September 2023)
- Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that for these Linux cards you need to specify the relative core voltage: for example -cclock -50 will set the core voltage 50mV below the default
- dded ROCr cores for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels, you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers version 20.45 and later, but performance will be lower than with older drivers and PAL kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700.
- Fixed an issue that caused a crash with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no longer a need to run these cards with -clkernel 0)
- Added support for AMD drivers for Windows up to 21.7.2. Please note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 and higher - you must use older drivers for these cards to work correctly
- Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20)
- Many other fixes and small improvements
v5.6c
Features in this version
- Reduced the percentage of rejected/forgotten shares when mining on Nicehash
- Fixed issue with reading GPU temperature with some AMD GPU/drivers
- Latest AMD drivers for Windows 21.5.1 are already supported from version 5.6b
- Other minor fixes and improvements
- Added native kernels for AMD RX6700 GPUs. They are faster than common kernels and produce far fewer stale shares.
- Increasing the maximum supported DAG epoch to 550 (should last until approximately January 2023).
- Full support for adjusting clocks, fan speeds, voltages and memory timings for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards
- Added new command line options -tmaxj and -tmaxmem to reduce GPU usage when GPU hotspot (junction) or GPU memory temperatures exceed specified thresholds. These options are supported by both Nvidia and AMD GPUs, which report interface and memory temperatures.
- Added support for AMD Windows drivers 21.4.1, 21.3.2 and 21.3.1
- Added support for AMD Linux drivers 21.10-1244864-ubuntu-18.04, 21.10-1247438-ubuntu-20.04 and 20.50.x. Use these drivers only if you have a Polaris or older GPU, or the latest RX6x000 GPU. WARNING: Vega, Radeon VII and Navi GPUs will not work with these drivers!
Disable the zero fan feature on AMD cards when using a fixed fan speed (e.g. -tt -40) or when using a minimum speed automatic fan (e.g. -tt 63 -minfan 35). To disable this feature, add the -fanstop 1 command line option.
When -mcdag 1 is specified on Linux, the miner will not wait for the daggen.sh script to complete before starting to generate DAG. Instead, it will do this for a fixed 7 seconds. This allows you to do the following in daggen.sh: disable Nvidia GPU overclocking, sleep for 30-60 seconds to allow time for DAG generation, and then turn Nvidia GPU overclocking back on. Other minor improvements and fixes
v5.5c
- Added custom cores for AMD RX6800 and RX6900 GPUs. They are faster than regular cores and produce much less stale shares.
- Updated cores for AMD Polaris, Vega and Navi GPUs that are slightly faster and consume less power than before when mining ETH. To use these updated kernels, you need to use drivers 20.5.1 or later on Win10 or 20.10.x or later on Linux.
- Nvidia mining cards (P106, P104, etc.) can now use straps and hardware control options (power limit, memory overclock, max temperature, etc.) under Windows.
- Added support for the latest AMD driver for Windows 21.1.1.
- Added new option -mcdag to reset memory overclocking on Nvidia cards during DAG generation. This may allow you to set a higher memory overclock on your Nvidia cards without the risk of messing up the DAG buffer, which could result in excessive amounts of bad shares. Use -mcdag 1 (defaults to 0, which means disabled) to use this new feature.
- The -tt option is now only intended to control fan behavior. For example, -tt 60 sets the automatic fan speed with a set temperature of 60°C; -tt -70 sets a fixed fan speed of 70%; and -tt 0 disables fan control. All of this can be specified for each GPU.
- There is a new parameter -hwm that allows you to control the frequency of hardware monitoring, which was also done using -tt in previous versions of PhoenixMiner.
- Added support for AMD Linux drivers 20.45-1164792 and 20.45-1188099. Use these drivers only if you have an RX6800 or RX6900 GPU. WARNING: Vega and Navi GPUs will not work with these drivers!
- Automatically set -ttli instead of -tmax if a later version is not supported by the driver. This will cause the GPUs to slow down when they reach a set temperature to avoid overheating.
- Other minor improvements and fixes
