Web Mining: basic concepts Web Mining2 commentsPrint version

There are several categories of web resources used for cryptocurrency mining. These can be browser miners that use the power of your PC, or cloud mining rental services. Both formats can charge a fee for their services or be completely free. However, when choosing the best sites for cryptocurrency mining, you should take into account not only your individual capabilities (PC power, size of investment), but also the reliability of the resource, potential profitability, as well as the list of coins available for mining.

Stages of Web Mining

In Web Mining the following stages can be distinguished:

  1. input stage – receiving “raw” data from sources (server logs, texts of electronic documents);
  2. preprocessing stage – data is presented in the form necessary for the successful construction of a particular model;
  3. modeling stage (pattern discovery stage);
  4. pattern analysis stage – interpretation of the results obtained.

These are the general steps you need to follow to analyze Internet data. The specific procedures for each stage depend on the task at hand. In this regard, various categories of Web Mining are distinguished.

Browser mining of Bitcoin is possible

On the FreeBitcoin service, it became possible to mine Bitcoin cryptocurrency through browser pages.

Connecting to this service is very simple - register on FreeBitcoin and go to the “MINING” section, the link to which you can find in the top menu of the site.

After this, you will find yourself directly in the mining section:

First, your mining statistics are shown:

  • YOUR HASH RATE - your hashrate.
  • HASHES SOLVED — number of solved hashes.
  • TOTAL MINING INCOME - your income from mining for the entire time.

And just below you can see the mining settings - there are only two of them:

  • THREADS - the number of processor cores that will be used for mining.
  • CPU USAGE - percentage of your processor usage

By default, the maximum number of cores and CPU usage are set to 100%, but you can change these values.

After you make the necessary settings, simply click “START MINING” at the bottom of the page and mining will start. You cannot close the browser tab - otherwise mining will stop.

How much can you earn by mining via browser on FreeBitcoin?

Unfortunately, we cannot give exact figures, since this module appeared on the site quite recently, but we can say for sure that such mining brings very modest amounts.

  • Firstly, mining through a browser is much less efficient than through special programs.
  • Secondly, mining on a processor has not been relevant for a long time, so this “trick” from FreeBitcoin is needed more by beginners who cannot yet figure out how to set up full-fledged mining programs.

Or if your processor is idle when you are just surfing the Internet, you can turn on this mining at 50% power so that it brings in an extra penny.

In general, as mentioned above, this FreeBitcoin “feature” is most likely designed specifically for beginners in the topic of cryptocurrencies, while experienced users are unlikely to be interested in mining through a browser.

Difficulties in analyzing data from the Internet

The World Wide Web now contains a huge amount of information and knowledge. Users can view all kinds of documents, audio and video files under various conditions. However, this variety of data hides problems that can arise not only during analysis, but also when searching for the necessary information on the Internet.

  1. The problem of finding the necessary information is due to the fact that the user cannot always immediately find the electronic resources he needs. Only a small percentage of links offered by search engines lead to the required documents. It is also difficult to search for non-indexed information using such means.
  2. The problem of discovering new knowledge. Even if a lot of information is found, extracting useful knowledge is quite a time-consuming and challenging task for the user. This also includes the difficulties associated with understanding the information, the concept of the ideas that were invested by the authors.
  3. The problem of consumer research is related to providing the user with information that would be of interest to him. This is especially true for electronic trading portals, which could “prompt” the user when choosing a product.

Having outlined the difficulties of analyzing web data, let's return to Web Mining. Let's consider its main stages.

Categories Web Mining

  1. Analysis of the use of web resources (Web Usage Mining).
  2. Web Structure Mining
  3. Web Content Mining

Let's take a closer look at them.

Analysis of the use of web resources

This direction is based on extracting data from web server logs. The purpose of the analysis is to identify visitors’ preferences when using certain Internet resources.

Here it is extremely important to carry out thorough data preprocessing: remove unnecessary log entries that are not interesting for analysis.

Each network user has his own individual tastes and views, depending on which he visits certain resources. By identifying which pages the user opened and in what sequence, we can draw a conclusion about his preferences. An analysis of general trends among all visitors shows how effectively the electronic portal operates, which pages are visited the most and which are visited the least.

Based on this analysis, you can optimize the site: find previously unnoticed problems in functioning, design, and much more.

Extracting Web Structures

This direction examines the relationships between web pages based on the connections between them. The constructed models can be used to categorize web resources, search for similar ones, and recognize copyrighted sites.

Depending on the task at hand, the site structure is modeled with a certain level of detail. In the simplest case, hyperlinks are represented as a directed graph:

$G = (D, L)$

$D$ is a collection of pages, nodes, or documents; $L$ is a set of links.

Web structure extraction can be used as a preparatory step for web content extraction.

Dispute Resolution

8.1. Before filing a claim in court regarding disputes arising from the relationship between the User and the Administration, it is mandatory to submit a claim (a written proposal or an electronic proposal for a voluntary settlement of the dispute).

8.2. The recipient of the claim, within 30 calendar days from the date of receipt of the claim, notifies the claimant in writing or electronically of the results of consideration of the claim.

8.3. If an agreement is not reached, the dispute will be referred to the Moscow Arbitration Court.

8.4. The current legislation of the Russian Federation applies to this Privacy Policy and the relationship between the User and the Administration.
